FAW Tests Liquid Hydrogen Truck in China with 1,000 km Range, Competing with Daimler's GenH2
FAW Jiefang is testing a liquid hydrogen truck in China that boasts a range of over 1,000 km, rivaling Daimler Truck's GenH2. The collaboration with the Aerospace Propulsion Technology Academy and Dongfang Hydrogen Energy has resulted in a vehicle that has already traveled 8,000 km while consuming just 8 kg of hydrogen per 100 km. Meanwhile, Daimler continues its development, having tested its truck for over 225,000 km and planning to produce 100 units by the end of 2026.

In China, FAW Jiefang is testing a liquid hydrogen truck with over 1,000 km range, matching Daimler Truck's GenH2 performance. The project involves collaboration with the Aerospace Propulsion Technology Academy for hydrogen storage and Dongfang Hydrogen Energy for a high-power fuel cell.
Testing is taking place in Panzhihua, Sichuan province, known for its challenging terrain. The truck has already traveled 8,000 km, consuming only 8 kg of hydrogen per 100 km. Daimler Truck continues its development of liquid hydrogen trucks, having conducted over 225,000 km of testing with initial customers and plans to produce 100 units by the end of 2026, with series production expected in the next decade.
