Federal Funding Exceeds $5 Million for Tri-Cities Projects Including AI Research and Water Infrastructure
The federal government has allocated over $5 million for projects in the Tri-City area, including Petersburg and Hopewell. Virginia State University will receive $1.031 million to enhance its Center for Generative AI and Industrial Cybersecurity.
Specific allocations include $1.092 million for rehabilitating Petersburg's Poor Creek wastewater system, $1.092 million for Hopewell's Heretick Avenue Stormwater Project, and $1.092 million for Colonial Heights' aging water line replacement. An additional $800,000 is designated for replacing asbestos-lined water pipes in Prince George's Beechwood Manor neighborhood. The total funding secured for the Fourth Congressional District amounts to $10.14 million.
