Federal Support for Petersburg Development Projects Continues as Youngkin's Term Ends

DATA AND AI INFRASTRUCTURE

Governor Glenn Youngkin announced continued federal support for Petersburg development projects as his Partnership for Petersburg initiative transitions beyond his administration. The initiative has focused on improving Petersburg's infrastructure, education, and health systems over the past three years.

The Department of Housing and Urban Development will assist the city in securing grant money to address lead hazards in homes, while Health and Human Services will collaborate with local leaders to tackle chronic illnesses. Ongoing projects include a data center expected to create 200 construction jobs and 50 permanent positions, a crisis resource center, and the Bollingbrook development, which will add over 80 housing units.

The Sycamore Grove development is also restarting, with Cordish Companies managing the grocery store aspect. Youngkin emphasized the commitment to Petersburg's future growth with broad participation from local, state, and federal partners.
