President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. met with Mitsubishi Corp. President Katsuya Nakanishi on February 2, 2025, to discuss increasing investments in Philippine railway and subway projects. The objective is to accelerate project completion, create jobs, and enhance clean wind energy initiatives in the provinces.

The meeting included key officials such as Executive Secretary Ralph Recto and Ayala Corp. Chairman Jaime Augusto Zobel. Mitsubishi Corp. has been involved in the Metro Manila Subway since being awarded a contract in 2022 for integrated railway systems and track work. In May 2025, construction began on a power substation to provide electricity for the subway project.
