Fiddler's Ferry Demolition Advances as Final Cooling Towers Set for Controlled Blast
Peel NRE receives approval to demolish the last cooling towers at Fiddler's Ferry, paving the way for a new residential and commercial development. The project will result in an 860-home neighborhood, health center, and significant employment space.

Warrington Council has approved Peel NRE's plan to demolish the last four cooling towers at Fiddler's Ferry, with controlled demolitions scheduled for late 2026. This follows the demolition of four towers in late 2023 as part of a broader 18-month demolition program initiated over three years ago.
The site will transform into an 860-home neighborhood featuring a primary school, health center, and 4 million square feet of employment space. DSM Demolition is currently on-site for asbestos removal and de-planting. TITAN Group will utilize waste ash from the site to produce low-carbon cement, indicating a potential shift towards sustainable construction practices.
