Fiesp Establishes AI Council to Address Digital Infrastructure Challenges in Brazil
The Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo (Fiesp) has established the Superior Council of Artificial Intelligence (Consia) to monitor technological advancements and their impact on production sectors and society. The inaugural meeting highlighted Brazil's higher data center construction costs compared to the U.S. and the need for public-private coordination to address productivity stagnation. The council aims to support the development of the digital ecosystem in Brazil by tracking policies and investments in AI.

The Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo (Fiesp) launched the Superior Council of Artificial Intelligence (Consia) on January 26 to oversee technological progress and its societal impacts. The meeting, led by Vice President Rodrigo Guedes Xavier, emphasized Brazil's data center costs being 36% higher than in the U.S. and the country's 1% share of global data processing capacity.
Xavier stressed the importance of collaboration among public and private sectors to tackle productivity challenges. Additionally, Ricardo Terra from Senai-SP discussed initiatives in AI and reported over 315,000 enrollments in related programs, as well as industrial connectivity projects including 5G networks.
