Final Victim of Mường Than Flash Flood Identified; Recovery Efforts Ongoing
The last missing victim from the July 17 flash flood in Mường Than has been confirmed, bringing the death toll to nine. Recovery initiatives in Lai Châu include government funding and extensive search operations.

The final victim of the July 17 flash flood in Mường Than Commune, Đỗ Thị Hoa, 57, was discovered in the Mường Mít hydropower reservoir on July 21. The flood resulted in nine fatalities and nine injuries, prompting the mobilization of over 700 personnel for search and recovery operations.
In response to the disaster, the government allocated VNĐ50 billion (approximately US$1.9 million) for recovery efforts, with total damages estimated at VNĐ270 billion (about $10.3 million). Further actions included reopening transport routes and relocating affected families, with a proposed resettlement area for around 24 households.
