Finalists Announced for £7.5m Water Discovery Challenge in UK
Twenty projects, each awarded £100,000, are finalists in the UK Water Innovation Fund's Water Discovery Challenge, focused on advancing water sector innovations. The initiative aims to address critical challenges in water management through entrepreneurial solutions from diverse sectors.

The UK Water Innovation Fund's Water Discovery Challenge has identified twenty finalists, each receiving £100,000 in seed funding. These projects include solutions like smart batteries to prevent sewage spills, nature-based wastewater treatment using Daphnia, and quantum computing applications for leak detection.
Finalists will undergo mentorship and support over seven months to test the viability of their innovations. By April 2027, up to ten projects may secure up to £550,000 for further development. The challenge's outcomes could significantly enhance water quality management and infrastructure resilience, addressing urgent environmental and regulatory needs.
