Finland and China Sign Cooperation Agreements to Enhance Bilateral Relations
Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo's visit to China led to several cooperation agreements aimed at enhancing bilateral relations, focusing on political trust, economic investment, and cultural exchanges. With trade exceeding $8 billion in 2025 and significant investments, initiatives include a lithium battery material factory and the establishment of an innovation hub for Finnish startups in Beijing. These developments, along with sports cooperation, further solidify the partnership between Finland and China.

Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo's recent visit to China resulted in multiple cooperation agreements in political mutual trust, economic and trade investment, green innovation, and cultural exchanges. The trade volume between China and Finland exceeded $8 billion in 2025, with two-way investment stock surpassing $23 billion.
KONE Corporation, a notable Finnish business, established operations in Kunshan, Jiangsu, in 1996, benefiting from the region's industrial ecosystem. A lithium battery material factory, a joint investment by Beijing Easpring Material Technology and Finnish Minerals Group, began construction in Finland in April 2025, with plans for production by 2027.
Additionally, Aalto Entrepreneurship Society established an InnoHub innovation base in Beijing in November 2025, promoting technology transfer and supporting Finnish startups in western China. Cultural exchanges, including sports cooperation, further strengthen the bilateral relationship.
