Finland to Join US-Led Pax Silica Tech Initiative
Finland is set to participate in Pax Silica, a US technology collaboration aimed at securing supply chains for AI and semiconductors. This move has raised concerns among critics regarding the implications of deepening ties with the Trump administration amidst EU efforts for digital sovereignty.

Finland plans to join Pax Silica, a US initiative designed to enhance global supply chains related to AI, semiconductors, and critical minerals. Launched in December, the collaboration aims to ensure the US maintains a competitive edge in AI development.
However, critics express concern over Finland's increasing cooperation with the US, especially as the EU seeks to reduce its reliance on American technology. The Finnish government, led by the National Coalition Party, is expected to sign the declaration before summer, following discussions in the foreign policy committee.
Pax Silica is characterized as a non-binding collaboration, thus requiring no parliamentary approval. The Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasizes semiconductor access as integral to national security policy.
