Flatiron Energy is seeking to revise its design for a battery storage facility at 284 Eastern Ave. from a two-story building to approximately 124 modular units. A public hearing with the planning board is set for Feb. 24, following initial permit approval in fall 2024.
The project site, about 3.7 acres, will connect to the adjacent Eversource Chelsea electrical substation and comply with a 14-foot flood elevation standard. The modular design is aimed at reducing construction time and expediting community agreement payments. Security will include 24/7 monitoring and fencing.
