FLIE Launches Pilot Hall at SubZero Rotterdam to Boost Sustainable Industrial Practices
Fieldlab Industrial Electrification (FLIE) has opened a new pilot hall in Rotterdam, aiming to enhance local sustainable energy production and innovative industrial technologies. This facility enables companies to develop, test, and scale Power-to-X technologies for electrification and sustainability.

FLIE's new pilot hall, covering 2,700 m², is part of SubZero in Rotterdam's Merwe-Vierhavens area, with 800 m² dedicated to FLIE's pilot and testing facilities. The facility supports industrial end-users, technology providers, and knowledge institutions focused on energy transition technologies such as hydrogen, energy storage, and carbon capture.
On April 1, a lease agreement was signed between PlatformZero and TNO, with the Port of Rotterdam facilitating infrastructure development. FLIE collaborates with various partners to accelerate the energy transition, supported by subsidies from the province of South Holland and the municipality of Rotterdam. This marks a significant step toward establishing a cohesive value chain for sustainable industrial practices.
