Ford Appoints Lisa Drake as President of New Battery Energy Storage Business

Ford Motor Co. appointed Lisa Drake as president of Ford Energy to establish its battery energy storage systems business. Drake, formerly VP of technology platform programs and EV systems, will oversee battery cell manufacturing and sales.
Ford is repurposing the BlueOval SK plant in Glendale, Kentucky, for this initiative, following the dissolution of its joint venture with SK On Ltd. The company plans a $2 billion investment and will create 2,100 jobs, with battery energy storage systems set to launch in 2027. Drake's role includes focusing on utility-scale storage and residential solutions, capitalizing on Ford's manufacturing capabilities.
