Form Energy Secures Multi-Year Battery Supply Deal in West Virginia
Form Energy has entered a multi-year agreement to supply iron-air battery systems for AI data centers, marking a significant development in energy storage technology. This initiative is poised to transform Weirton, West Virginia, into a hub for advanced energy solutions, aligning with state plans to increase energy generation capacity.

Form Energy has finalized a multi-year agreement to provide iron-air battery systems for AI data center power grids, set to begin production in early 2027. The deal with Crusoe Energy Systems entails delivering 12 gigawatt-hours of energy storage, positioning Weirton as a critical player in the energy landscape.
This venture will create hundreds of jobs, replacing the legacy steel industry and aligning with West Virginia's goal of generating 50 gigawatts of energy by 2050. Concerns about environmental impact from data centers have been addressed by local leaders, emphasizing the comparative reduction in pollution from the new facility. The 2026 launch year will serve as a foundation for scaling operations globally by 2028.
