Fort Bliss UESC Project Completed, Projected to Save $136M Over 24 Years
The U.S. Army Engineering and Support Center has completed a $58 million Utility Energy Services Contract project at Fort Bliss, Texas, expected to save over $136 million over 24 years. The initiative, executed by New Mexico Gas Company and Energy Systems Group, includes LED lighting upgrades, water security enhancements, and a microgrid with energy storage systems, resulting in a 49% reduction in monthly water purchases. The collaboration among stakeholders was essential to the project's success, allowing Fort Bliss to focus resources on critical mission needs.

The U.S. Army Engineering and Support Center, Huntsville has completed a $58 million Utility Energy Services Contract (UESC) project at Fort Bliss, Texas. This project, implemented by New Mexico Gas Company (NMGC) in partnership with Energy Systems Group, includes three Energy Conservation Measures: LED lighting upgrades, water security enhancements, and resilience through microgrid and energy storage systems.
The project is expected to save over $136 million throughout its 24-year contract. NMGC is responsible for operations and maintenance of the microgrid, allowing Fort Bliss to allocate resources to critical mission needs.
The project also improved water infrastructure, resulting in a 49% reduction in monthly water purchases from El Paso Water since its completion in 2024. Collaboration among various stakeholders was crucial for the project's success.
