The Fortaleza City Council has authorized loans up to R$ 2.4 billion, with a primary request of R$ 850 million targeting debt restructuring and infrastructure projects through partnerships with Banco do Brasil and Caixa Econômica Federal. The mayor, Evandro Leitão, emphasizes the need for financing to bolster health, education, and tourism initiatives, including a significant project along Praia do Futuro.
Last year, an additional R$ 1.6 billion loan was sought, facing opposition for lack of expenditure details.
