Fortescue Acquires Zitara to Enhance Elysia Battery Intelligence Platform

ENERGY STORAGE

Fortescue has acquired US-based Zitara, enhancing its Elysia battery intelligence platform by integrating on-site precision control solutions. This acquisition strengthens Fortescue's position in the growing Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) market, combining cloud-based analytics with real-time on-premises controls.

The integration aims to maximize trading revenue, asset lifetime, and safety for BESS customers. Fortescue is implementing 4-5 GWh of storage systems in the Pilbara, Australia, to support its decarbonization goals for iron ore operations by 2030. The acquisition also expands Fortescue's presence in key global markets, including the USA and Europe, which are projected to exceed 500 GWh in combined capacity over the next five years.
