Fortuna Metals Advances Mkanda Project with Significant Drilling and Rutile Production
Fortuna Metals reports 66kg of rutile produced from bulk sampling in Malawi, with drilling programs advancing towards 2026 resource estimates. The focus is on establishing high-quality rutile products for aerospace applications amid growing demand for titanium.

Fortuna Metals has completed approximately 40% of its 6,000m hand auger drilling program and plans to begin a 5,000m aircore drilling program by late June 2026. The company produced 66kg of rutile from a 5.4 tonne bulk sample processed by Mineral Technologies, with further tests expected to conclude in late June.
The 2026 drilling initiative will involve 6,500m of hand auger work, 5,000m aircore, and 30 push tube/core drilling programs to enhance resource estimates across the Mkanda project in Malawi. The project shares geological similarities with Sovereign Metals' Kasiya deposit, which is known for high-quality rutile and graphite. Given the increasing industrial demand for titanium, the outcomes of these drilling efforts could significantly impact Fortuna's market positioning and future profitability.
