FOSSA Systems and IENAI Space have formed an alliance to develop Spain's first space mission utilizing electric propulsion technology. Scheduled for late 2026, FOSSA will launch a new generation of 6U nanosatellites weighing over 10 kg, equipped with the ATHENA™ NANO thruster.

This innovative low-power, high-density electric propulsion system, based on electrospray technology, is entirely developed in Spain and will enable orbital maneuverability. The mission marks a significant milestone for both companies, with FOSSA achieving its most advanced satellite launch and IENAI integrating its leading propulsion product for orbital demonstration. This collaboration underscores Spain's growing capabilities in the aerospace sector and its emerging role in satellite development for constellations.
