Fraunhofer ISE Launches Pilot Facility for Membrane Electrode Assembly Production
Fraunhofer ISE unveiled a pilot facility for membrane electrode assembly (MEA) production at Hannover Messe. This facility aims to bridge laboratory processes with industrial production, enhancing capabilities for manufacturers in component and machinery sectors.

Fraunhofer ISE has introduced a pilot facility designed for the production of membrane electrode assemblies (MEAs), showcased at Hannover Messe. This facility aims to facilitate the transition from laboratory processes to industrial manufacturing, incorporating technologies such as slot-die coating and gravure printing.
The institute also operates industrial-scale MEA production facilities, which include capabilities for microstructure analysis and performance testing. Additionally, Fraunhofer ISE focuses on systems analysis for hydrogen ramp-up, exploring sustainable power-to-X systems and international hydrogen supply chains, identifying optimal locations and developing solutions for production, storage, and transport. The advancements in MEA production could significantly impact the hydrogen economy, enhancing efficiency and scalability.
