Fraunhofer IWES Launches IWES Digital Hub for Wind Energy Solutions

WIND ENERGY

Fraunhofer IWES has launched the IWES Digital Hub, a platform for digital solutions in wind energy, available since mid-January. The hub provides access to software tools developed by the institute to enhance the planning, design, and operation of wind farms.

The first service, GRIDSLI, is a terrain mesh generator that accelerates computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations in complex terrains, converting raw data into simulation-ready grids within minutes. GRIDSLI is optimized for challenging topographies and is based on validated methods from Fraunhofer IWES.

The hub will expand to include additional tools like FOXES for wind farm optimization and LYNXES for modeling wind currents. The initiative aims to leverage scientific expertise for practical applications, contributing to efficiency and cost reduction in renewable energy projects.
