Freehold Borough Council Advances $4.6M in Capital Projects and Community Solar Proposal
The Freehold Borough Council discussed nearly $4.6 million in capital improvement ordinances and a community solar initiative. This meeting underscores the borough's commitment to infrastructure investment and community support amid rising utility costs.

The Freehold Borough Council addressed capital improvement ordinances totaling approximately $4.58 million, which include $3.82 million for general improvements, $727,000 for parking upgrades, and $28,000 for utility enhancements. A community solar presentation highlighted potential savings of 20% to 30% on electric bills for residents without the need for rooftop installations.
Major redevelopment projects were reviewed, including the Hometown Redevelopment project slated for Land Use Board review in August and the upcoming Victory Court construction. Additionally, the borough plans to amend the Nestlé redevelopment plan to exclude future data centers. These initiatives aim to enhance infrastructure, support veterans, and address community food security while managing rising utility costs.
