Frontier Energy Secures Funding for Largest Solar-Battery Hybrid in Western Australia
Frontier Energy has secured approximately $A280 million in project finance to develop the Waroona Renewable Energy Project, the largest solar-battery hybrid in Western Australia. This funding enables immediate commencement of construction, positioning the company for significant revenue generation from energy sales and reserve capacity contracts.

Frontier Energy has finalized a funding package totaling approximately $A280 million to initiate construction of the Waroona Renewable Energy Project, which includes a 132 MW solar farm and an 81.5 MW battery storage system. The financing includes a construction facility of around $250 million and additional facilities for bank guarantees and debt service reserves.
The project has received necessary state and federal approvals, and the company expects to generate base case revenues of approximately $72.5 million, with significant contributions from reserve capacity contracts and energy sales. With plans to expand the project to about 1,000 MW, this funding marks a critical advance in establishing a major renewable energy hub in Western Australia.
