FSSC 22000 Updates Guidelines for Food Fraud Prevention and Tampering Mitigation
The FSSC Foundation has updated its guidelines to include Food Fraud Mitigation and Food Defense strategies. These guidelines address intentional adulterations and the prevention of food fraud to protect supply chains. Organizations are encouraged to establish dedicated teams with multidisciplinary skills to implement these strategies effectively.

The FSSC Foundation has recognized the need for guidelines on Food Fraud Mitigation and Food Defense, enhancing the existing FSSC 22000 standard. These updates, aligned with ISO 22000, aim to prevent intentional adulterations and fraud within the food supply chain.
The latest version, 4.1, launched in 2017, has reached 15,000 global certificates. Organizations should form a Food Fraud Mitigation Team and a Food Defense Team, composed of professionals from various disciplines to address the distinct risks related to fraud and tampering.
