Fugro and Australian Space Agency Collaborate on SpAARC Robotics Control Complex in Western Australia
The Australian Space Agency (ASA) has partnered with Fugro to develop the Australian Space Automation, Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Control Complex (SpAARC) in Western Australia. Supported by additional funding from the WA State Government, SpAARC will assist start-ups, small businesses, and researchers in managing robotic activities in space, including satellite servicing.
Fugro was chosen due to its expertise in remote operations and robotics control in challenging marine environments. The establishment of SpAARC is expected to enhance domestic space investment, create job opportunities in the Australian space sector, and promote STEM education. The project is funded by the ASA's Space Infrastructure Fund dedicated to Robotics, Automation, and AI Command and Control Centre initiatives.
