G-TEAD Deploys Merops Counter-Drone System to NATO Eastern Flank and Middle East
The Global Tactical Edge Acquisition Directorate (G-TEAD) has deployed the Merops counter-drone system to Poland and Romania, addressing increased unmanned aerial threats. This rapid acquisition, initiated after drone incursions in late 2025, involved procuring 50 systems and obtaining a $6 million bailment agreement with Perennial Autonomy. The Merops system is also being deployed in the Middle East amidst rising tensions with Iran. G-TEAD's actions reflect a significant advancement in rapid acquisition and operational capability integration for U.S. Army forces.

G-TEAD has deployed the Merops counter-drone system to Poland and Romania in response to increased drone threats along NATO's Eastern Flank. Following unmanned aerial incursions in late 2025, an urgent request for a low-cost c-UAS solution was issued by USAREUR-AF.
G-TEAD procured 50 Merops systems through an existing contract, securing a $6 million bailment agreement with Perennial Autonomy for additional capabilities. The systems are being fielded in Europe and are also being rapidly deployed to the Middle East to counter threats from Iranian drones.
Merops has been identified as a transition candidate for further integration into U.S. Army operations.
