Galactic Energy to Launch Ceres-2 Electromagnetic Rocket by 2028
Galactic Energy is set to debut the Ceres-2, the world's first electromagnetic rocket, by 2028. This project aims to enhance satellite launch economics, potentially doubling payload capacity while reducing propellant needs.

Galactic Energy is progressing towards the launch of the Ceres-2, the first operational electromagnetic rocket, expected by 2028. A critical milestone was achieved on April 15, 2025, when the company conducted a full system test at the Ziyang Commercial Space Launch Technology Research Institute, successfully ejecting a 1.4-meter diameter rocket model.
Enhanced technologies have led to a 90% improvement in system efficiency, allowing the rocket to achieve supersonic speeds on the ground. This advancement may significantly lower the first-stage propellant requirements and double the payload capacity for orbital launches, potentially transforming the cost structure for small to medium satellite deployments.
