Gascade Plans 15km Hydrogen Pipeline Segment for German Network by 2029
Gascade Gastransport is advancing its German hydrogen pipeline network with a new 15km segment named Hylu, expected to be completed by 2029. This segment will connect the Midal pipeline to Lampertheim and Ludwigshafen am Rhein. Preliminary work is set to finish by fall 2026, with a hydrogen pressure regulating station operational by 2028. This follows the conversion of 400km of pipeline to hydrogen in December 2025, contributing to Germany's 9,000km hydrogen core network.

Gascade Gastransport is planning a 15km hydrogen pipeline segment called Hylu, expected to be constructed by 2029. This pipeline will connect to the 679km Midal pipeline, facilitating transport between Lampertheim and Ludwigshafen am Rhein.
Preliminary work, including mapping and site investigations, will be completed by fall 2026. A hydrogen pressure regulating station will be integrated at Lampertheim, operational by 2028. Gascade previously converted 400km of pipeline to hydrogen in December 2025, part of a 9,000km hydrogen core network in Germany. Capacity reservations for this network will start this year.
