Gauteng Re-industrialization Strategy to Boost Manufacturing and Economic Growth
Gauteng is shifting from a consumption-focused economy to a production powerhouse, aiming to enhance its manufacturing capabilities. With a multi-tier Special Economic Zone (SEZ) strategy, the province seeks to anchor 40% of South Africa's industrial output. Key initiatives include the OR Tambo SEZ for advanced manufacturing and the Vaal SEZ focusing on hydrogen and renewable energy. The Gauteng Enterprise Propeller has also launched a loan facility to support black-owned SMMEs, preparing local enterprises for investment ahead of the 2026 Gauteng Investment Conference.
