Gaznat-EPFL Research Programme Funds Projects for CO₂-Neutral Energy in Western Switzerland
The Gaznat-EPFL Research Programme has announced funding for projects aimed at achieving CO₂-neutral energy in western Switzerland by 2050, selecting initiatives under the EXPLORE and SEED categories. The EXPLORE category supports lab-scale prototypes with a focus on innovative technologies, while the SEED category funds early-stage projects to identify promising technologies. Key projects include advancements in carbon capture, water electrolysis, and biomethanation processes.

The Gaznat-EPFL Research Programme has selected projects for funding under the EXPLORE and SEED categories to support Gaznat's goal of achieving CO₂-neutral energy supply for western Switzerland by 2050. The EXPLORE category funds lab-scale prototype projects with TRL >4, aiming to develop innovative technologies, with a duration of up to four years.
The SEED category supports early-stage projects (TRL <4) lasting 6 to 12 months, focused on identifying promising technologies. Notable projects include stability-engineered adsorbents for carbon capture, an anionic exchange membrane water electrolyser, and a biomethanation process for power-to-gas. The Scientific Committee evaluated all proposals before making funding decisions.
