Gazprom Sends Second LNG Cargo from Portovaya to China Post-Sanctions
Gazprom has successfully delivered a second LNG cargo from the Portovaya plant to China, marking a key post-sanction milestone. The Portovaya facility, operational since September 2022, has faced interruptions due to U.S. sanctions imposed in January 2025, which aimed to limit Russia's LNG production and exports.

On April 15, Gazprom delivered a second LNG cargo from the Portovaya plant to the Beihai LNG terminal in China. This shipment follows the first post-sanctions delivery made in December 2025. The Portovaya plant has a capacity of 1.5 million tons per year and has been operational since September 2022.
Exports were impacted by U.S. sanctions introduced in January 2025. The gas carrier Valera loaded the cargo on January 25. Prior to sanctions, the plant typically shipped two cargoes monthly, mostly to Turkey and Greece, but has since expanded markets to include China, Spain, and Italy. The ongoing sanctions pose risks to Russia's LNG revenue and market position.
