Gebisa Ejeta Inducted into National Inventors Hall of Fame 2026
Gebisa Ejeta, a renowned plant geneticist and Purdue Distinguished Professor Emeritus, will be inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame on May 7, 2026, in Washington, D.C. His research on grain sorghum has significantly contributed to global food security. The induction is in partnership with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. The 2026 class also includes posthumous inductee Frank S. Greene Jr., known for developing high-speed semiconductor memory systems.

Gebisa Ejeta will be inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame Class of 2026 on May 7 in Washington, D.C. His research on grain sorghum has saved millions from starvation and is part of Purdue's One Health initiative, addressing challenges in human, animal, and plant health.
The event is in partnership with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. The class also features posthumous inductee Frank S. Greene Jr., an electrical engineering alumnus from Purdue, recognized for developing high-speed semiconductor memory systems for the ILLIAC IV supercomputer.
