Genevos Engages in €7M EU Hydrogen Fuel Cell Maritime Project
Genevos is participating in a €7 million EU project aimed at developing a scalable hydrogen fuel cell system for maritime applications. This initiative is crucial for advancing hydrogen-powered shipping, addressing the need for sustainable energy solutions in the marine sector.

Genevos is involved in the MARINER initiative, which is backed by €7 million from the EU under Horizon Europe. The project's goal is to create a modular 1 MW proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cell system for larger vessels, supported by €2.2 million for Genevos' engineering efforts.
The system will undergo over 1,000 hours of testing in real maritime conditions and will include accelerated tests for a 200 kW module. Additional components of the project focus on developing digital monitoring tools and conducting lifecycle analysis to facilitate future commercial adoption. The initiative is significant as fuel cell systems have yet to achieve commercial deployment in large marine vessels.
