GenH2 and ITP Interpipe Achieve Thermal Qualification for Liquid Hydrogen Insulation
GenH2 and ITP Interpipe have validated the Izoflex® insulation system for liquid hydrogen pipelines, marking a key milestone in the qualification program. This progress supports the urgent need for effective and reliable infrastructure in the expanding hydrogen economy.

On August 4, 2026, GenH2 and ITP Interpipe announced the successful thermal qualification of the Izoflex® insulation system for liquid hydrogen applications. This testing was performed on GenH2's Cryostat CS900 platform and confirmed that the insulation meets thermal performance standards under real-world conditions, facilitating the development of high-performance hydrogen infrastructure.
The qualification is the third phase of ITP Interpipe's program, following previous testing phases focused on material compatibility and hydrogen embrittlement. Future phases will involve full-scale system evaluations.
The insulation's design enables underground, subsea, or above-ground installation without expansion loops, enhancing operational flexibility. This technology may also extend to other cryogenic applications, indicating potential broader industry impact.
