GenScript and Mimulus Collaborate on DNA-Based Data Storage Solutions
GenScript and Mimulus have initiated a multi-year partnership to develop DNA-based data storage technology, aiming to revolutionize archival systems by 2030. The collaboration focuses on creating cost-effective, sustainable storage solutions capable of preserving vast amounts of data without electricity, addressing critical limitations of conventional storage methods.

GenScript Biotech Corporation and Mimulus Corp have announced a strategic partnership to advance DNA-based data storage, targeting the industrialization of this technology by 2030. The collaboration aims to develop high-throughput DNA synthesis capabilities to produce Mimulus's Glacier Data Storage Cards™, which are designed to store data without power or maintenance.
Additionally, this partnership seeks to address the growing demand for archival storage as global data volumes approach 200 zettabytes, overcoming the limitations of traditional magnetic storage systems. By leveraging Mimulus's zero-watt technology, this initiative could significantly reduce the energy demands of data storage infrastructures, optimizing resources for AI applications. As AI workloads increase, the shift to molecular data storage may reshape the competitive landscape of data centers, potentially impacting operational costs and efficiency.
