Genus Secures $55M Substation Contract with Rio Tinto
Genus has been awarded a $55 million contract for the expansion of Rio Tinto's Millstream substation, set to begin immediately. This project is part of a broader three-year master construction agreement for electrical and instrumentation works across Rio Tinto's Pilbara operations.

Genus will initiate the construction of the 220kV Millstream substation in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, with completion anticipated by mid-2028. The project will involve 50 personnel and follows a three-year master construction agreement secured in March 2026 for electrical, instrumentation, and controls works at Rio Tinto's iron ore operations.
This contract is a continuation of Genus's relationship with Rio Tinto, expected to enhance their orderbook heading into FY27. Additionally, Genus' recent acquisition of MPK Kinetic marks its entry into the gas sector, which generated $533 million in revenue for FY25, reflecting strong market performance. This strategic move diversifies Genus’s offerings and aims to position the company as a key player in critical infrastructure services across Australia.
