Georgia Communities, Including Albany, Receive $39.3 Million in Infrastructure Loans for Water Projects
Twelve Georgia communities, including Albany, received $39,328,700 in loans from the Georgia Environmental Finance Authority for various water and wastewater projects. Albany's $3,500,000 loan will replace potential lead service lines at no interest. Other loans include $12 million for Covington's Clean Water State Revolving Fund project and $3.16 million for Norman Park's wastewater treatment plant improvements.

The Georgia Environmental Finance Authority awarded $39,328,700 in loans to twelve Georgia communities for water and wastewater infrastructure projects. Albany received a $3,500,000 loan for lead service line replacement, with no interest over 20 years and eligibility for $770,000 in principal forgiveness.
Norman Park was awarded $3,161,000 for wastewater treatment improvements, also interest-free over 30 years, with up to $2,844,900 in principal forgiveness. Other loans include $12 million for Covington, $5.25 million for Laurens County, and additional amounts for other communities.
The funds support economic development and comply with U.S. EPA and state funding guidelines.
