Georgia Power has completed the Moody battery storage facility, featuring a capacity of 49.5 MW and 198 MWh, located near Valdosta, Georgia. This addition to the utility's battery storage portfolio is essential for meeting peak demand and aligns with its Integrated Resource Plan (IRP), which favors storage as a cost-effective alternative to traditional peak generation sources.
The facility's four-hour configuration supports resource planning objectives and will participate in Georgia Power's resource adequacy and ancillary services markets. Successful execution of this project enhances the utility's experience in regulated storage asset deployment, informing future supply cycles.
