Ghana's President Mahama Directs Resolution of Teshie Desalination Plant Issues Amid South Korea Visit
President John Dramani Mahama has instructed the Ministers for Finance, Works and Housing, and the Attorney General to resolve issues related to the stalled Teshie Desalination Plant, which affects water supply in local communities. The plant, shut down in October 2025 due to contractual disputes, was designed to supply 13 million gallons of water daily. Concurrently, Mahama is in South Korea to strengthen bilateral cooperation in trade, security, and agriculture, highlighting shared values and goals for food security.

President John Dramani Mahama has tasked the Ministers for Finance, Works and Housing, and the Attorney General to resolve issues related to the Teshie Desalination Plant, which has been shut down since October 2025 due to unresolved contractual obligations. The plant was meant to produce 13 million gallons of potable water daily for around 500,000 residents. During a concurrent visit to South Korea, Mahama engaged in discussions to strengthen bilateral cooperation in trade, maritime security, climate change, and agriculture, emphasizing the importance of agriculture for food security and the potential for resource exploitation through technological collaboration with Korea.
