Giant Data Center Project in Gauriaguet Raises Local Concerns
A proposed logistics and data center project in Gauriaguet, Gironde, aims to boost local economy but raises environmental concerns. The project may generate around 300 jobs, contingent on technical and regulatory approvals.

In Gauriaguet, Gironde, a project encompassing a logistics hub and data center is under consideration, covering nearly 40 hectares. The site is prepared for four buildings, with initial permits filed. Altarea is leading the initiative, which includes a 400 megawatt electric connection.
Local officials express concerns regarding the project’s water and electricity consumption, especially following recent water supply issues. However, the mayor believes the area has sufficient water resources and highlights proximity to a nuclear power facility for energy needs. The project could create approximately 300 jobs, but its progression depends on further agreements and technical studies.
