The ASTURIAS Data Center Scientific Mission will be launched on February 12 at the AS5HUB in Gijón. It is funded by the Asturian Agency for Science, Competitiveness, and Innovation (Sekuens) under a project call for the development of pilot projects in 2025.

The mission aims to reduce the energy and carbon footprint of data centers, positioning Asturias as a key region for sustainable digital infrastructure. Key focuses include energy-efficient cooling, infrastructure reuse, and smart operation. The pilot project will evaluate energy optimization in CPDs through instrumentation and modeling, alongside a feasibility study for sustainable CPD locations in Asturias.
