Gilgit-Baltistan Development Budget Increased by 27.32%
The federal government has approved a 27.32% increase in the annual development budget for Gilgit-Baltistan, rising to Rs 30.67 billion. This adjustment reflects a total increase of Rs 39 billion proposed for the next fiscal year, addressing infrastructure and energy projects.

The revised development budget for Gilgit-Baltistan will now amount to Rs 30.67 billion during the current fiscal year, which marks a 5.26% increase from the original budget of Rs 37.1 billion. For the upcoming fiscal year, a total of Rs 23 billion is proposed as Block Allocation/ADP, including Rs 4 billion under the Prime Minister's special package.
Specific allocations include Rs 2.2 billion for the 16 MW Naltar Hydropower project, Rs 1.71 billion for solar plants, and Rs 1 billion for establishing a regional grid. Additional funds will support drainage, roads, water supply, and hospital construction projects. This budget increase highlights the government's commitment to enhancing infrastructure in Gilgit-Baltistan, potentially improving regional development and energy access.
