GISTDA Advances Thailand's Space Ambitions at 2026 Beijing International Commercial Space Exhibition

Thailand's Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA) participated in the 2026 Beijing International Commercial Space Exhibition, marking a significant step towards enhancing the nation's role in the global space economy and the Thai First Astronaut project. GISTDA Deputy Director Phee Chusri led the delegation and presented opportunities for cross-border cooperation in commercial aerospace, engaging over 25 aerospace organizations.

Key outcomes included early-stage business negotiations on high-resolution SAR satellite data, collaborations on Thailand's LandX programme, and potential partnerships on the THEOS Constellation satellite network. GISTDA also discussed astronaut training and research collaboration with the China Manned Space Agency (CMSA), which pledged support for Thailand’s astronaut programme, aiming for a Thai astronaut mission aboard the Chinese space station. GISTDA emphasized Thailand's evolving role as a key player in the global space sector.
