Glencore Reports 19% Increase in Copper Production for Q1
Glencore's copper production surged 19% in Q1, reflecting improved ore grades in Africa and higher output in Peru. The marketing division is projected to surpass its annual earnings guidance.

In the first quarter, Glencore achieved a copper production of 199,600 metric tons, up from 167,900 metric tons year-over-year, primarily due to enhanced ore grades at its African sites and increased output from the Antamina mine in Peru. Despite a 39% decline in cobalt production driven by prioritization of copper output amid export quota restrictions in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Glencore maintained its 2026 production guidance and expects its marketing division's earnings to reach between $2.3 billion and $3.5 billion. Emerging cost pressures from higher diesel and sulphuric acid prices could impact operations, although rising commodity prices may counterbalance these effects.
