Global Resource Recovery Plans $50 Million Diesel Production from Gas Condensate
Global Resource Recovery NT aims to produce diesel from gas condensate starting July, addressing local fuel supply needs. The project is projected to meet half of Darwin's fuel demand, with a $50 million investment for a new tank farm.
Global Resource Recovery NT plans to commence diesel production from gas condensate in July 2026, targeting to fulfill 50% of Darwin's fuel requirements. The company is finalizing agreements to procure gas condensate from Central Australia, leveraging its existing facility that recycles waste oils and chemicals.
A $50 million investment will be allocated for constructing a tank farm at East Arm, consisting of 16 storage vessels. Industry experts express concerns about the project's long-term efficiency, suggesting that without the current fuel crisis, this approach may not be optimal. The project is contingent on supply chain capacities and aims to eventually refine diesel locally, starting with a blend of hydrocarbons and biofuels.
