Global Tungsten & Powders Secures New Tungsten Suppliers from Korea and Rwanda Amid U.S.-China Trade Restrictions

STRATEGIC MINERALS

Global Tungsten & Powders (GTP), based in Pennsylvania, is seeking new tungsten suppliers in Korea and Rwanda due to U.S. restrictions on Chinese imports. With over 12,000 metric tons of tungsten powder produced last year, GTP faces rising prices exceeding $30 per pound amid a global tungsten rush.

The Sandong mine in Korea has reopened with support from the Korean government, while Rwanda's Nyakabingo mine faces shipping delays due to regional conflicts. GTP's owner, Plansee, has shifted towards securing non-Chinese tungsten sources, critical for military applications. The company is currently operating at full capacity and plans to expand production in Towanda.
