GlobalFoundries has introduced its SCALE™ optical module, the first OCI MSA-capable platform for co-packaged optics. This innovation is crucial for enhancing bandwidth density and scalability in AI data center architectures.

GlobalFoundries has unveiled its SCALE™ optical module solution, marking a significant advancement in co-packaged optics (CPO). This platform is the first to meet the Optical Compute Interconnect Multi-Source Agreement (OCI MSA) standards, providing a robust solution for high-bandwidth AI data centers.
The SCALE solution employs advanced silicon photonics technology, supporting both coarse and dense wavelength-division multiplexing (CWDM, DWDM) for enhanced data transmission. GF has demonstrated bi-directional DWDM capabilities crucial for modern AI architectures, positioning itself as a leader in optical interconnect technology.
The platform supports a range of photonic devices and integrates high-speed signaling features that streamline the transition to mass production. The ability to scale from 4λ to 8λ and beyond ensures future adaptability for upcoming AI interconnect requirements, emphasizing GF’s commitment to energy-efficient connectivity.
