GMI Cloud Launches $12 Billion AI Infrastructure Initiative in Japan with Wistron Partnership
GMI Cloud has launched a $12 billion AI Factory in Kagoshima, Japan, in partnership with Wistron, aimed at establishing sovereign AI infrastructure. This project is part of a Japan-Taiwan-US collaboration that addresses national security and economic competitiveness concerns related to AI.
The factory, developed by Kai Shin Digital Infrastructure with local government support, will begin construction in late 2026 and have a power capacity of 1 gigawatt. It will focus on sustainable practices and is designed to support Physical AI applications across various sectors. GMI Cloud's expertise positions it as a leading partner for countries seeking technological independence.
