Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL) has requested permission to remove 576 trees for the development of a metro depot in Sector 33, with an estimated cost of ₹400 crore. The depot will occupy approximately 50 acres of land adjacent to a 220 kVA power substation and is currently in the tendering phase.
A survey identified 37 species among the trees to be removed, including 119 Sheesham and 32 Peepal trees.
