Goa Launches First Reverse Vending Machine Under DRS at INS Mandovi
Goa introduced its first Reverse Vending Machine (RVM) under the Deposit Refund Scheme (DRS) at INS Mandovi, indicating a significant advancement in waste management efforts. The initiative aims to promote recycling and sustainable practices within the community, as demonstrated during World Environment Day celebrations.

Goa has inaugurated its first Reverse Vending Machine (RVM) under the Deposit Refund Scheme at INS Mandovi, marking the first installation in a defense establishment. This pilot project aims to boost recycling efforts and has received no-objection certificates from 132 village panchayats and six urban local bodies, reflecting its growing implementation across the state.
Live demonstrations of RVMs were also held at the KTC bus stand in Panaji. The initiative is part of a broader strategy to promote a circular economy for beverage packaging, emphasizing responsible environmental practices. This project's success may influence similar initiatives in other regions and sectors.
